BuytoGive: The online marketplace where every transaction supports a cause

As the high cost of living continues to bite donors, every fundraising penny counts.

Want to boost your income for little effort?

Check out BuytoGive, a new online marketplace that aims to ‘connect online retailers in the UK with mindful shoppers.’

The platform, which launched in April, is the brainchild of eCommerce entrepreneur Kevin Turner and it has philanthropy at its core.

About BuytoGive

BuytoGive is similar to Amazon or eBay in that it features a wide array of products from independent UK retailers.

But, unlike the others, a 35% donation from every transaction goes to a good cause.

Charity partners

So far, 200 charities, including Medic to Medic, Fountain of Life, Disability Sport Yorkshire, and The WILDE Foundation, have signed up to benefit.

And you’re invited to join them.

How does it work?

If you register (which is free to do), you’ll be allocated a BuytoGive fundraising page with a unique link to share with supporters. And you’ll be able to access BuytoGive’s marketing toolkit, which contains a suite of assets to help you promote your fundraising page.

No charges

You won’t be charged to fundraise on the platform, as the fees are covered by the retailers (they’re charged up to 11% commission per sale, from which BuytoGive donates 35% to a charity of the seller’s choice).

As for donors, the only charge they’ll incur is an online payment transaction fee of 1% + 20p for direct donations.

Incidentally, it’s worth noting that direct donations are eligible for Gift Aid, but donations made through purchases on the platform aren’t.

Payments

To receive donations, you’ll need to set up a Stripe Connect account.

Once you do, direct donations will be paid directly into your account.

But funds from purchases will be held for 30 days to ensure buyers have time to request refunds (if needed).

Safe hands

BuytoGive is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and is therefore committed to fundraising in line with the Code of Fundraising Practice.

Word from the top

Of the platform, founder, Kevin Turner, says:

BuytoGive is a “haven for conscious consumers. We've not only simplified the act of giving but have also enshrined it within everyday life.

Our platform stands as a testament to innovation with integrity, ensuring that every purchase carries a ripple effect of good.

We invite you to join us in this journey, where each click, each purchase, and each act of kindness, holds the potential to craft a narrative of hope and humanity.”
